A 7 ii A7s ii A7r ii Underwater housing

The new underwater housing for Sony A7ii is here. That means it will fit A7ii A7s ii A7r ii, same as a previous model all three variants of this magnificent camera will be able to use one housing.

Let's have a look at the lenses which you can use with this housing at the moment of it's release. First on the list is a kit lens Sony FE 28-70mm F3.5-5.6 OSS, which is great. However we noticed that majority of people are using Sony FE 24-70mm F4 ZA OSS Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar T* , you will be able to fit this lens inside the housing as well and of course we hope it won't be such a tight squeeze as on the previous model of A7 underwater housing. Let's have a look at these lenses

Sony FE 28-70mm F3.5-5.6 OSS  Sony FE 24-70mm F4 ZA OSS Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar T*
Weight 426 g (0.94 bl) 426 g (0.94 bl)
Diameter 73mm (2,87") 73mm (2,87")
Length 95mm (3,74") 95mm (3,74")
Zoom method Rotary (extending) Rotary (internal)

As mentioned in the previous post about A7 II, this underwater housing will have a system to trigger flash/strobe light, unlike it's predecessor which did not have any way to use the flash. So this system is called SYNC cable. Also in the future there will be ports available! :)

Hello! Can Someone tell me if with this housing I will be able change iso, shutter and aperture?

Hello Meikon,

Thank you for creating this underwater housing for the A7sii. I along with several other photographers and videographers look forward to purchasing your housing, however we are in the same boat as James, who commented earlier this month about the superior 16-35mm lens setup for underwater photography.

I’m sure a great population of A7sii owners would greatly appreciate the design and release of a lens port to accommodate the 16-35mm f4 lens, as it is the best e-mount zoom currently available, especially for underwater use.

Rumor has it that Sony will be releasing an f/2.8 version of their zooms in March 2016 (this seems to be definite for the 24-70mm). What we don’t yet know are whether the dimensions of these lenses will remain the same and whether this applies to the 16-35mm as well. Perhaps being in the manufacturing industry this is something you would be able to find out… Either way, a large market that you are missing right now would gladly purchase your housing once a dome port for the 16-35mm were available. I look forward to buying your housing as soon as it accommodates the Sony FE 16mm-35mm f4 lens, if possible with focal length / zoom adjustment capability.

I am a pro photographer and would order the A7rII housing today if you could adapt it to work with the Sony FE 16mm-35mm f4 lens. It is by far the best Sony FE lens for underwater use. Also I would require a means to adjust the focal length while in use underwater.

I can guarantee you that if you could come up with the above options most people would not have any issue paying a much higher price for a new, larger, wide angle dome port that could accommodate a 16mm focal length with no vignetting and very low distortion.
